Westwood Works is an asset-based community development organization dedicated to connecting people, place, and purpose in Cincinnati’s largest neighborhood of Westwood. We achieve this through mini-grants, community events, and real estate development, fostering inclusiveness and celebrating the diversity of our community.

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, independent, and self-motivated Partnership and Fundraising Coordinator to lead and grow our fundraising efforts. This person will play a key role in cultivating relationships with corporate and individual sponsors and donors, developing impactful campaigns, managing grant applications, and ensuring compliance with administrative requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Building and Donor Cultivation (50% of Role)

  • Identify, recruit, and cultivate relationships with new and existing corporate and individual sponsors/donors.
  • Develop tailored engagement strategies to strengthen donor loyalty and encourage increased support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sponsors, ensuring excellent communication and stewardship.
  • Build partnership potential with sponsors and local businesses to increase programming at events. 

Fundraising Campaigns (30% of Role)

  • Create and execute innovative fundraising campaigns to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design campaign materials and promote initiatives through various channels.
  • Plan and support fundraising events in coordination with the events committee.

Grant Management (10% of Role)

  • Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
  • Maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines and ensure timely submission of reports and applications.

Administrative Responsibilities (10% of Role)

  • Process donor contributions, ensuring accurate and timely acknowledgment through thank-you letters and tax receipts.
  • Maintain donor and sponsor records in the organization’s database.
  • Generate reports on fundraising progress and donor activity for leadership and board review.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fundraising, development, or a related role, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively in a self-motivated manner to accomplish goals.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with a track record of cultivating donors and sponsors. A desire and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. An understanding of the importance of reputation and reliability when building sponsor relationships. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Grant writing experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software, donor databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends will be required for events/meetings. 
  • Weekly or bi-weekly team meetings and detailed activity reports will be required, along with invoices to be paid bi-weekly (see contract status note below).
  • Personable, positive, and enthusiastic attitude; capable of dealing effectively and professionally with both internal and external audiences, team-oriented with a passion for community development that aligns with Westwood Works’ mission. 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • $35,000-40,000k annually, depending on experience, with incentives for exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Fully remote work environment, including flexible days and hours. In the next 1-2 years, the organization may establish a base of operations in Westwood, which will require a mixture of remote and in-office time, to be mutually agreed on by the team.

  • As this is a contract position, vacation time is not paid. However, there is no set limit on the amount of time you can take off, as long as it does not interfere with the fulfillment of your contractual obligations and agreed-upon deliverables. Important Note: This role is a contract position, which means the selected candidate will work as an independent contractor rather than as an employee of Westwood Works. To fulfill the requirements of this position, applicants must:

  1. Have or establish their own LLC: Candidates should have a registered Limited Liability Company (LLC) or equivalent business entity to provide services under this contract.
  2. Maintain appropriate insurance: Contractors must carry their own liability insurance to cover their business activities. Proof of insurance will be required before the start of the contract.
  3. Handle their own taxes: As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for managing your own tax obligations, including withholding and filing taxes. Westwood Works will not deduct taxes from your payments but will issue a 1099 form for tax reporting purposes.
